Default database design question - 08-21-2003 , 04:26 AM

I have this site with Open Source Software for Windows:

http://users.pandora.be/vandewoestyn...e_windows.html

I would like to convert it to a MySQL+PHP thing. Right now, I'm
thinking about the design of the database. The ER-diagram I currently
have is in .dia format available at
http://azw.dyns.be:9090/oss_windows/oss_windowsdb.dia

I just would like to get some comments on this diagram. Am i forgetting
stuff? Any better suggestions?

Especially comments on how to organize the fact that a project can be in
a subcategory that is part of a main category.

Thanks,
Bart

PS: is this the correct place to ask ER-design questions like this? If
not, what other newsgroup is more appropriate?

PostgreSQL is a full-fledged SQL DBMS. Should make your life easier.

Actually no... this is about *theory*.

Usually you pay someone to benefit from expertise.

I'd take Codd and theory for one of my projects over a highly paid, knows
just-enough-to-be-dangerous-and-cause-massive-damage consultant any day.
You imply that theory and expertise are mutually exclusive. I tend to not
agree.

Then what is the best place to ask ER-design questions like mine?
There are way to many database newsgroups and I have no idea which one
fits best.

Bart

Mee too. But he asked not about theory, but application.

Now, if it was a question about application of theory... but
he seemed just to want free service.

Never, why?
