CDT is a usenet newsgroup.

Isn't there are monitor somewhere out there that can get this MI5
persecution
crap out of the group?

Nope.

Besides, it's not just c.d.t. Like Santa Claus, the MI5 Persecution Guy is
/everywhere/.

The best that can be hoped for is to track it down to the source and get the
guy the help he needs--or, if it's some sort of stupid prank, have him
arrested and sent away for spamming USENET.

Unless he somehow manages to fill up USENET with his rants, the best course
of action is to ignore him.

Nope.

There is a long, glorious and storied tradition of this kind of
kookery on Usenet.

This guy's an amateur. Mediocre perl scripting skills and a
boilerplate broadcast approach.

Oh! For the days of Archimedes Plutonium, Sollog, Robert "UN-altered
REPRODUCTION and DISSEMINATION of this IMPORTANT Information is
ENCOURAGED." McElwaine, Serdar "Turkeys!" Argic. This guy's more a
Canter & Siegel type.

Nostalgia. The arch-enemy of irony.

Yes, absolutely. Go to http://www.mozilla.org/ and download a newsreader
that can filter messages. I use the one that comes with Netscape.

Then, add a filter that removes any messages with MI5 in the subject.
Voila! Instant moderator!

Like one of the other respondents said, the MI5 crap is *everywhere*. # 1
group I read in is sci.econ, and it's there.

HOWEVER, just thank you're lucky stars this group hasn't gotten a flood by
whatshisface (or people using his software). Completely flooded sci.crypt
multiple times these past few weeks. And when I say "flooded," I'm
referring to (if I can trust what I've heard other people say) _hundreds of
thousands of f*cking posts_. And real crap, too---syntactically correct
garbage that is semantic nonsense (designed I guess to get past filters).
Makes the group unusable unless someone filters.

From across the pond, just be thankful you aren't getting spam from the
rcmp, their longer history shows them to be a right proper bunch of
stumblebums. For all I know you are getting spam from them, which would
prove it!

This may be a useful link. It is the killfile I use for google groups:

I setup a filter rule in Thunderbird to delete that crap and haven't
seen any of it since. This is the best approach, IMO.
