Default Class Data File - 04-20-2010 , 08:37 AM

I recall seeing a data file available on the net, detailing hierarchies
or classes/members. My Google searching doesn't throw up any hits for
where I might be able to get a copy. Does anyone know of a similar
resource? I find myself with the need to populate a database with sample
data.

Did you try googling "hierarchy sample data" or "genealogy sample data"
or "taxonomy sample data"?

Thanks Bob. I hadn't used any of those search strings but I've now tried
them and still haven't found anything useful. The only taxonomy data
I've found is on biological systems and that's not going to work for the
non-specialist audience I'm expecting.

It seems you recall some specific material that would be appropriate. Do
you remember any specific content from that material? Names etc? Or the
author?

It's at least ten years ago so I can't remember a great deal. If I
remember correctly, which is a big if, the file was a dataset consisting
of just parent and child types/classes drawn from everyday life.
Probably a CSV file. I have no idea who compiled it or why.

Paradoxically now that there is a great deal more interest in taxonomies
it's harder to find specific resources.
