i'm connecting to sybase ASE 12.5 using sybase ASE oledb provider 02.50.0033

some selects retruns the error 'TDS buffer length too large: %s'

what is wrong ?!, how can i fix this problem ?

any suggestions , comments will be very helpfull .

Hello,

I looked in solved Sybase cases and there were a variety of solutions.

1) A few cases encountered this error when they were trying to use
OLEDB with .NET. Sybase does not support ODBC or OLEDB with .NET.
They have a new .NET driver that should be used.

2) Another case was solved by setting the DSN attribute (registry
only) "ProcessResultsOnClose = 1", so that the Provider "waits" for
the final done, since ADO does not wait around for everything.

3) Several cases were resolved by getting the latest 12.5 EBF with
the most recent version of the OLEDB provider (I think 2.70 something
for Open Client 12.5).

4) One workaround was proposed and depended on ASE topology because
it is a timing issue. Customer needs to adjust the number of rows and
batch size.

yes i'm using the oledb driver with .net .

what do you mean 'Sybase does not support ODBC or OLEDB with .NET.' ?
i'm using the oledb driver included with ASE 12.5 client which has
some other strange behaviors !! (such as sudden hang).

please can you explain what is supported and what is not in more
details .

how can i upgrade to the new driver which supports the .net ?

it is hard to get an ebf for sybase products !, do you know where can
i download this ebf .

The Sybase ODBC and OLEDB drivers have some problems working on .NET.
Sybase has released an ASE ADO.NET driver with the 12.5.1 Software
Developer's Kit which can be downloaded from the Sybase Product
Download Center:

Once you have downloaded and installed the base release of a product,
you can get EBFs from here:
http://downloads.sybase.com
