I'm new to Sybase having previously been an Informix DBA for 7
years as well as a DBA on SQL Server. Can anyone recommend some
resources that will enable me to get up to speed on Sybase as
quickly as possible? I of course have all the manuals, but
anything that would speed up the transition would be appreciated.
We are running ASE 12.5.0.1 on Linux. |
Hi Bill,
Your best bet is to go to the Sybase sponsored news groups
(forums.sybase.com) rather than here - there's _tons_ more activity.

Also, can anyone on this list speak to the long term viability of
Sybase as a database platform? |
I think ASE is holding steady with ~2% of marketshare in the DBMS
market. It's certaintly nothing to write home about but it's an
excellent product and it still has many users.
Don't judge its use by the traffic in c.d.s -- go to forums.
