Default Sybase ASE 12.0.0.4 Error Number 1515 - 06-11-2004 , 01:56 AM

When I did a selection which joins two tables in Sybase Adaptive
Server Enterprise 12.0.0.4, I got the following error message:

Bad session descriptor for sort
Error 1515, Severity: 20, State: 1

When I deleted all the data from the tables, re-inserted data into the
two tables and did the selection in the same way, the problem seems
gone. From Sybase Troubleshooting and Error Message Guide, the
following information is provided regarding Error 1515:

"This error occurs during a sort operation when the server finds
that a session descriptor (pointing to row ID's) is invalid."

Could anyone advise me what the root reason is that causes the session
descriptor becoming invalid?

Best Regards,

Hi Linda.

This error appear as a configuration parameters problem.
Please review the parameter "enable sort-merge join and JTC" if the value
for this parameter is "1" please put the value in "0" this change must be
correct the problem in future situation.
