I am unable to install the main sybase server with the conifguration

I do see a message in the license manager log file stating that certain
features are unsupported but ASE_DEV appears to be OK.

The creation manager says that the task where it tried to create the
master device failed. It still trys to start the server which of course
fails.

you are likely seeing a glibc incompatibility, where the dataserver
process core dumps shortly after starting. Try to install the latest
version of glibc that you can find for SuSE, and make sure that you
install the glibc package that is built for your CPU type (i.e. the i686
package for a P2/P3/P4 machine, for example).

We have the same problem with ASE 12.5.1 on SuSE. Thanks to the tip of
Michael I could solve the problem on SuSE Linux Enterprise by installing
the 686-version of the glibc which will put the libs below /lib/i686:

$ ls -C1 /lib/i686
libc.so.6
libm.so.6
libpthread.so.0

and the ASE works fine now; I tried the same for SuSE Profesional 8.1
but can not find any rpm containing files for /lib/i686 and can not
make the ASE happy. Any ideas?

Thx
