Is there any ODBC driver provided by Sybase or whatever (free of charge) for
use with SOLARIS? The db is ASE ver. 8....
I cannot find any related info even in the official site of Sybase...

Check out FreeTDS.org. I'm not 100% certain that they can meet your needs. However, they do have free, Unix, TDS drivers for Sybase and SQLServer.

My company uses the TDS technology to create commercial Solaris drivers for Sybase 10, 11, and 12. Therefore, it's feasible.
