Default New Sybase Admin -- could use some help/pointers - 09-15-2004 , 11:35 AM

Hi there! I suddenly support an instance of Sybase 8. I'd love to
find a couple of good websites with the usual how-to approach and
examples &tc. I'm primarily a programmer though I have junior
experience administering MS SQL Server 2000 since that's always been
my programming back-end.

Thanks;
Duncan

First step is to get your hands on a "Survival Guide" though a book,
which has the daily checklist of the tasks that you need.

Failing that:
1) GEt the manuals for the database server or "Sybooks"
2) get the internal documentation on the server.
3) get the internal documentation on the application(s).
4) get the internal documentation on the application(s)' database(s).
