Default Changing the editor in an ISQL session - is this possible? - 09-02-2004 , 07:57 AM

I am using Sybase 11.5.1 on IBM AIX 4.2.1.

I would like to change the default editor used in an ISQL interactive
session from
"vi" to anything else. I am thinking of "emacs" or "pico" here.

Is this even possible? Is the call to "vi" hard-coded into ISQL?

Tom.

As documented in the Utility Guide

-E editor
specifies an editor other than the default editor vi.

Hi Tom,

Well I don't know about 11.5 (because I cannot get to any
documentation) but in 12.5.X you can use the "-E" option with isql.
Try "isql -u" to see the options and/or look in the Utilities guide
for your release.

Cheers,

Sara ...

vi is the default, you can override it to:

isql -E <editor>
