Default Can't view SQL statements via Sybase Central and Monitor server - 08-11-2004 , 07:01 AM

I have setup ASE and Monitor server according to manuals. Everything
comes up fine. I can connect to ASE/Monitor via Sybase Central. I
can view all monitor screens, have data, makes sense. When I launch
"Process Current SQL Statement" I see the list of running processes.
But when I select one of these processes, I never see the SQL
statements that are executed. I have set the following configure
item:

SQL batch capture = 1
max SQL text monitored = 2048
enable monitoring = 1
event buffers per engine = 2000

My environment is:

OS: Solaris 8/Sparc
ASE: 12.5.0.3

Thanks,
Kent

Hi Kent,

I have used this monitor before ... the trick is (or used to be) that
you had to select the spid PRIOR to the suspect statement/SP being
executed AND the monitor HAD to refresh during the execution of the
statement or one did not get the text, plan, etc. Only statements
with "relatively" long execution times can be captured this way, which
is the idea I guess. I only used this monitor when I had already
discovered a suspect SP or batch and co-ordinated with the
user/developer to discover the actual problem/bottleneck. The new
Monitor tables might help you out here if you are on 12.5.

This isn't much help but there it is.

Sara ...
