Hi all,

I created new instance with sybase ase 155 express edition. Everything
looks normal and i can connect to new instance from where instance is
hosted. but i cannot connect from different machine to this instance.
interfaces file is correct. I used mixed ASE application type when i
create the instance. Same case valid for 1503 developer edition and
155 developer edition. A strange case, there is other instances (ase
1205,ase1502) on this machine and can be connected to these
instances. Any suggestion?

What platform?

If you shutdown the 1502 server and bring up the 155 on the port
the 1502 server was using, can you connect to it then?

Has the server been booted single user mode (and your local
connection is still logged in)?

When our Linux guys hand over a server it typically has the hostname
aliased to localhost in /etc/hosts. This will cause the behavior you
describe on Unix / Linux servers. The fix of course is to remove the
hostname from the loopback line (127.0.0.1) and add it on a line w/ a
proper unicast IP address, gotten from e.g. ifconfig.
