Had anyone ever had deadlock issues when using a date-timestamp as a single
segmented index?

often using an ascending value in a sorted
index causes significant contention for the
"lower right corner" of the index. while
this, in itself, can not cause deadlocks,
the contention can limit performance. please
contact oracle rdb support directly for
additional assistance in resolving this sort
of performance issue.
