Default Remove 9.1C client when add/remove programs fails... - 08-24-2006 , 01:43 PM

Ocasionally, I end up with a workstation that does not work correctly
anymore in progress and I have to remove the progress based
application, the progress client and reinstall. But sometimes the
progress client uninstall fails. Sometimes, I can "over install" the
client and then remove it. But sometimes the "over install" trick does
not work and I am left with re-imaging the PC. But if I don't have a
good image for the box, I am left with reinstalling Windows from
scratch.

Is there a way to remove the Progress client "manually?"

Thanks!

This is for 9.1D, but the procedure should be pretty much the same (the
tech support knowledgebase on Progress's website is free, and really is
a great resource).

Do you have any idea how your installs become corrupted? Our customers
have thousands of clients installed with a Progress based application,
and I've never seen a corrupted Progress client install that wasn't the
result of someone mucking around with registry settings manually, or
trying to create their own deployment package for the Progress client -
but our customers are mostly 9.1D/E based.
