Default PROGRESS problem with DATE - 09-09-2003 , 10:37 AM

Hello, I hope you can help me. I have a database in progress 6. I am
using the ODBC openlink version 1.15. I have mandaged to take out the
data via excel, but I have a small problem, the dates are wrong. Well

1999 it puts 2099, 1995=2095, etc. PLEASE HELP ME, I need it NOW. THANK

Look into the -yy parameter.. -yy is probably not the default of 1900 (as
it was, if memory serves, back in V6)..

The yy paramether in what in Progress or in excel???. The strange
thing is that in Progress the years are fine, they are 1995, 1996 etc,
I dont understand why when I take it to excel it puts 2095,2096 etc.
Tahnks you.

It's a Progress parameter.. But if the dates in Progress are correct, then
the problem is not Excel, but Windows.. Open the Control Panel and select
the "Regional Options" (on Win2K at any rate) and reset the Calendar
settings which say something like:
When a two-digit year is entered, interpret it as a year between: followed
by two boxes, one of which is disabled.. Change the other to 2000 (or
whatever you need) and all should be well in Excel..

HTH

put -yy 1950 in every parameter OIB ... from the ODBC client and the
server startup.pf

If it's not valid it would be ignored ... :-)

Check it again - i use ODBC from a IIS asp page and the dates are
correct ! There is no difference to Excel - both use MDAC, isn't it ?

Hi

You're probably aware that 1.15 is quite an old version and as such
was not certfied as part of any Year 2000 tests. With regards the
issue you're going through now, can you also add the -yy 1950 as a
Server option in your rulebook

Thanks
