I am working with automobile loans, trying to calculate internal rate
of return, net present value, payment amount, principal amount of each
payment, etc.

I remember there used to be a math / financial program library (.pl).
Does anyone know of one? Any suggestions?

Look in $DLC/src/samples/demo. There are some programs there that do
various types of financial calculations.
