Default postgres service starts then stops on Windows XP Home - 11-20-2006 , 06:59 AM

I am a student working on a team project using postgres 8.1.

When I install the db initially, everything works fine. However, once
I restart my machine, I am no longer able to start the service and
windows errors saying ". . .service has started and stopped. . . this
happens when no work to be done . . ." I have been googling for a day
now and have found nothing that answers my questions.

Does anyone know why this may be happening?

Regards,

Jason

Hi, may be, there is PID file, which can't be deleted. Try delete it
manually.

Thanks for the tip, however there were no pid files remaining. The
service was bombing out because of the user account configured to run
the service. I had created the account manually before I installed
postgres. On a different machine I allowed postgres installer to
create the account for me and I had no issues. This resolved the
problem on my current machine also.

Just thought I'd post the resolution for anyone else who experiences
this problem.
