Bill Gates announced today that he is transitioning out of Microsoft.
No cheers, jeers, flames, cries of joy or remorse? SSDD?
Yawn indeed.

Bill who?

Oh, him... He was something to do with computers or something, wasn't
he? I'd forgotten all about him... What's he been up to lately?

This might interest some Bill Gates biographers:

http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2006/06/16.html

But wasn't Bill Gates also a DJ on Brisbane's radio 4BH back in the
50's and 60's?
Used to DJ at the gut-rubs, errr dances, at the Commercial Rowing Club
on Friday nights, too, IIRC

This Bill Gates bloke certainly got around....

This is "football" as in Soccer... the "real" game...

and "World" as in more than one country taking part..

One month of football heaven....

Who's got time to worry about computers!

I have heard of this game!

I even think we have a team in the comp. Up against Brazil on Sunday
(3am Monday here), which I believe should be a walk in the park :-0

What's happening with cricket?

As one who followed it avidly when young, I'm always amused when someone
unfortunate enough to have grown up without knowing it asks for a
description of it..It's like baseball, innit?...well, within 5 minutes, when
my general preference for the nuanced cricket vs slam-bam baseball shows (a
national characteristic if I ever saw one, compare football with it's
American warlike version), I'm in a heated argument, usually ending up with
"you don't know what you're talking about baseball!"

I used to work for an American company (ADP) and I always found it amusing
describing cricket to Americans...

It always ended up with ...

"Now let me get this right... It's like baseball, but slower... and they
play for 5 days... and even then there's not always a winner!!"

Cricket is something you have to grow up with, it can't be taught....

Though trying to explain the off-side rule in football (soccer) can be
interesting too...
