So that is what is wrong with this new fangled IM / telefony thing :-)
Just another solution for a non-existent problem, IMO. Just leave me
alone, damn it! And get those kids off my lawn! <g>

But Luke, they are YOUR KIDS !! I know they have been having problems
since you told them they built the Great Wall to keep out rabbits, and
they gave that little talk at school, but everything will be OK :-)

Now, lets try again ... What is today's date ...?

Too much commercial television, mate.....

That was the Great Wall of Palestine they were talking about, not
China, and it was to keep the rabbis out....

Hi
I think that you better turn the system off immediately and set about
developing a policy for retention.
Has Sarbanes-Oxley slipped through the corporate governance net in your neck
of the woods? How many years did the ENRON guys get! Then of course there
is/was Andersens - not that I lost any sleep over them, brilliant training
policies, lousy governance, and as for their staff policies!!

Jeffrey,

I work for a crude oil transportation/marketing company, & our traders
use IM to do crude oil trades with individuals in other companies!!!!!
Virtually everyone in our office has an open chat window all the time.
It really IS great for intra AND inter-office communication.

Lots of companies won't let their employees use it, however. We've
even had a few who took advantage & used it for personal reasons. Hard
to police when it's being used as a business tool, too.

to be fair this is for trading - it replaces picking up the phone, or
shouting at each other on the trading floor, so SOX is not an issue !

Hi
I understand. The trade is of course recorded although sometimes they go
wrong when entered as did a big BIG one in Japan a year or so back.
Can you rely on these guys to stick to that alone? Also I believe that you
have a very valid point, telephone calls subvert everything SOX or no SOX.
After 25 years of dealing with oil companies I have learned that one must
confirm everything in writing to every party. They all appear to be
involved in some variant of price fixing but the authorities can never prove
it no matter how hard they try because they NEVER WRITE ANYTHING DOWN. The
practice started with Standard oil back in the 1880's and hasn't changed a
bit.

Heh. That bloke's an idiot. Everybody knows that Nasi Goreng was German.
The first name gives it away.
