Just testing. I haven't seen any postings, from anyone on CDP, since
Aug. 1.

I just emailed Jim and Dawn with the note below. If any of you who
can read this know someone who cannot, then please send the following
to them:

==========================
Google has not been processing their CDP feed for about a week.
You can view CDP postings here:
http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Arch....pick/2011-08/
http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Arch....pick/2011-07/
Look for postings related to "CDP" and "Google" for more info.

I recommend you get a news reader like Thunderbird or Sea Monkey, and
then access one of the Usenet servers recommended in one of the above
forum postings.
==========================

If you get questions like "what's Usenet" or I don't know how to do
that, the answers are all in the forum postings, with links to my
blog, links to free software, and references to other resources.
Google is not our friend for Usenet feeds, but they are still the
place to go for information about such things, so my answer is "Google
it".

It's really a shame that people need to fall back on old technology
like Usenet because Google can't do it themselves. Then again, maybe
this is just one more hint that CDP needs to migrate OUT of Usenet and
into a real Google group (what a paradox) or an email list like the
one used by U2-Users. Mike Preece did create a group that we could
call home. Too many people stuck in their old ways failed to provide
enough drive for a migration. I think we should reconsider that.

This morning Google groups has a new look and I can see new postings here now, so let's see if posting works.

If I did "my homework" I would know what was happening, but instead I'm just going to guess this is part of their planned changes for groups, in general, to blend with google apps, Google+ etc, with that same bar across the top, for example. I'm guessing (once again, no homework) this is part of their efforts to compete more directly with Microsoft on several fronts. With reliability and communication like this... --dawn

Not for me it doesn't. Though one has been able to use the "new Google
Groups" interface for quite some time, it hasn't been imposed on me
here. And good for that, because I find navigation and the ease of
following a thread somewhat difficult in the new version.
