Default VME startup/shutdown on D3/Linux - 10-12-2003 , 08:43 PM

Hi All,

Could someone tell me how would I startup/shutdown the D3 VME properly
upon system boot/shutdown.

Can I just use "/usr/bin/d3 -0" in a init.d script and link to
/etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99d3?

I assume this is okay for starting D3 but I am more concerned with
shutting down the VME properly and ensuring that the disk quiescent.
Is there are nice way to do this than just killing the d3 process (I
assume this would be bad for the VME).

Any help received is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You could use "d3 -k" .... not the "nicest" thing in the world, as it
doesn't check on the "transactional state" of your application, but if
you HAVE to shutdown d3 (relatively) cleanly, and in a hurry, this
will do it :-)
