Default Visualization - 01-15-2007 , 09:50 PM

Someone pointed me to this chart and it is so cool and not too OT so I
thought I share it. Mouse over each of the "elements" in the chart.

I'm curious what you find to be cool - the mouseover popups or the
variety of visualization methods. The former is basic DHTML. The
latter is ... well, much.

Surely it is the visualization tools. Even I can do popups ;-)

I've read books on data visualization, but have not seen such a nice
little catalog of ways to visualize information. Apologies if others
don't think it is such a nice resource (for web pages or presentations,
for example).

Enjoyed the maps. It would be nice to expand the popups so as to read the
darn things. I am now permanently crosseyed from trying to read the Semantic
Network map. :-)

Backspace the last element of the url and go to the website. They've got a
neat visual browser there.

Ah, you're conversant with MOPU (see above) technology, I see. However, you
do realize to be on the cutting edge nowadays, you're obligated to use Flash
and thereby cut off half your audience?

Actually, what's amazing (and cool) about that site is the sheer number of
visualization methodologies. Very funny to boot. Thanks, dawn.

I even used it in my current blog entry -- just mouseover the vending
machines to see the text on the one on the right hand side.

Oddly enough, I'm able to cut my audience down even lower with simple
text ;-)

Glad to see that you and others appreciated it too. I would like to be
able to bring up each page and look it some of them longer (and a few
are not showing in FireFox for me), but it is definitely a worthy idea
and attempt.
cheers! --dawn

LOL! If you've any tips to increase hits, would appreciate them. *OT*, check
out:
seeinggreen dot typepad dot com sometime when you have time to waste.
Also highly recommend Children of God, an incredibly entertaining film (see
End of the World, in above.)
