Thanks to all who responded... The information was not only helpful in
and of itself but as happens with web research much more was revealed
via other various links and references.

The site itself is an older UniData non SB site... using apps
converted from Prime. PRC for them would have been very much an
overkill.

Thanks again & enjoy your Christmas

Use UNIX SCCS (source code control system).

We at U2logic will be releasing a version control system based on
Eclipse and CVS. By using our XLr8 Editor for all of your work such as
dictionaries, procs, programs, and paragraphs, you will just need to do
a few clicks and those changes will be loaded into CVS.

We will be offering two versions. The first will be Software as a
Service. This means you will not have to setup CVS or anything else on
your servers, we will take care of that for you. The other version
will be loaded on to your site for you to manage. The former option
will be very cost effective and only requires internet access and
UniObjects on the server. The latter option requires the installation
of CVS and some basic subroutines on your U2 Server.

Contact me at 303-768-9601 for pricing and availability.

We have a product that is a couple of rungs down from PRC that we
developed back in the days of R83 (when we called ourselves "Pickworks"
rather than "Stamina Software"), before the "luxury" of being able to
use external CVS systems

SCAMP (Source Code Administration Management Program) provides a basic
environment for editing code, maintaining versions, delta creation, and
version comparisons. It can also be "pointed" at dictionaries, and the
core engine/version build can be applied to data files (I keep meaning
to update it to operate via triggers, but never find the time or
reason)

I've put up what passed as an internal manual at
http://downloads.stamina.com.au/scamp.txt so you can get a feel for
what it does ... just the basics, but possibly sufficient for the task
at hand

Never did a port to Unidata (not even sure UD was around at the time we
developed SCAMP!), but if UD has a COMPARE verb, shouldn't be too big a
job to port vanilla R83 code

Contact me directly if you are interested
