Default UV10 on Linux - 08-10-2005 , 05:17 PM

I am trying to do some development work with Linux and Universe and have
downloaded the free trial of UV 10 for Linux. Is there a way to get past
the file size limits in this trial version? It will not let me do the
testing necessary because some of my files and my VOC are > 10007

Mike

I'll try not to giggle too loudly.

IBM put the file size limit there *specifically* becasue it's supposed
to be a "Personal Edition"

I don't think they'd be too chuffed to find that somebody's broken
it..... and then advertises the fact......

If it ain't broke, fix it until it is....

Well it was worth a try. I hate to have to buy it and find out it isn't
going to work for me. But so be it. Is there a better way to buy it
for testing then going through my regular IBM partner?

If your IBM Partner deals with U2 products, then I would go that way
rather than developing a new relationship.

If you speak to them "nicely" you may also find that they can arrange a
time limited trial version of UV so that you can overcome the big-file
limitations .... but unless your testing is going to be on the box you
are looking at installing, then that would seem somewhat useless.

The core issue is "what do you have to change to get my application to
run" - depending on where you live (or that IBM business Partner), you
may also be able to access IBM porting labs

Can you offload some of the entries into VOCLIB?

Take a look at OpenQM. Very close to UV and GNU.
