Default Updating MV Family Tree - 04-25-2010 , 04:46 PM

I am not tackling this project yet, but after talking to Mark Pick and
others at Spectrum I am beginning to think about maybe addressing this
poster again in the future.

http://tincat-group.com/mv/MVFamilyTreeColor.pdf

When I moved more than six years ago, I lost a posters where I
collected all of the suggestions on what to change to make it more
accurate. People like Henry Eggers had given some good suggestions, so
I searched high and low for that poster, but, alas...

Before deciding whether it is worth looking at this again, I could use
input from folks regarding

1] CURRENT INFORMATION ON THE POSTER

a) What on the current version of the poster is just plain wrong
regarding anything that happened before 2001?
b) What information is missing that should be there?
c) What is on there that is not important enough from your perspective
to remain in the next version?

2] WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE 2000?

I know we have new entities or names, such as Mpower1, InterSystems
Cache', OpenQM, TigerLogic, and Rocket Software. Just looking down the
right hand side companies in dark pink in this poster, I suspect we
have the following companies who own, develop and maintain
implementations of at least mvbasic and the mv query langauge --
please correct me:

--TigerLogic in place of Raining Data
--Is Via Systems still around -- should it be someone else related to
Univision? I just asked someone and learned that Univision is still
marketed, just not in the US (or not much in the US), what is the name
of the company that should be listed here?
--Northgate Information Solutions stays the same, right?
--Mpower1 or Temenos or jBASE or something, so if any jBASE folks
could clue me in...
--I don't know that OnGroup is still relevant in this poster as having
an actual implementation of mvbasic and/or mvquery languages
--Revelation, is Win-Win still relevant to have written there?
--Rocket Software

Thanks for any suggestions you have regarding this. It will not be
soon that I dive in, but I wanted to start doing a little research to
be prepared. If you are someone with some relevant stories that might
help make this poster better, shoot me an email to set up a time to
chat by phone or skype. If you want to pass me information offlist,
feel free to do that too by emailing dwolt at tincat-group.com.
Otherwise, please put your comments here where others can jump in
too. Thanks.
