Default universe 10 on xp terminal setup - 05-06-2005 , 11:54 AM

I've successfully installed universe 10 on XP but when I type HELP
BASIC READ for instance the formatting is all over the place.

I've used SET.TERM.TYPE to set the terminal to console (microsoft
windows NT command prompt window - there's none for XP) and even dumb
with no resolution.

How do I set the terminal correctly for windows XP. LIST works fine
its formatted ok but the Help files available from HELP don't display
in any readable format.

SET.TERM.TYPE then ?

Displays the following: Which one would it be for Windows XP or do I
need another setup record from somewhere?

That depends on what terminal type your term emulator is set to.
UniVerse and the emulator must have matching terminal types.

Paul is doing the same as others. Including myself.
If you execute the uv from a directory pc, a universe window
opens.

No login. TCL. With 'console' shown as terminal type.
LIST/RUN/CREATE.FILE/ etc work. LIST and SORT actually
clear the screen. But HELP gives a fouled up screen.

And basic cursor commands do not function.

Is there faq for PE setup/use?

Roger

Maybe I should download a terminal emulator and try to log into
universe with that.
But I don't want to I just want to use the DOS shell.

It is my understanding that the UVShell screen is a very limited
function screen and not intended for normal day-to-day use. There
is no valid term type that I know of. I would suggest you download a
trial copy of Accuterm from http://www.asent.com/

Doesn't IBM offer a free copy of a terminal emulator as well, that comes
with UV or UD?

If you have access to the client cd there is a
terminal emulator you can install called Dynamic Connect.
It is a stripped down version of Wintegrate. Or you
can go to
http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp...=y&rs=u2trials
and download a trial version of the personal edition
clients or a trial of Wintegrate 6.0.

Yes, that's the one.
I just couldn't recall the name.
It works well enough and should solve all the problems with terminal setup.
