Default Unidata on Intel Xeon. Does hyper-threading help or decrease performance. - 11-18-2005 , 12:02 PM

We have a Dell Dual Xeon P4 3.6Ghz server running Unidata 6.1 on Redhat
Linux 3 AS.

It currently has hyper-threading switched on so the system appears to have 4
logical CPUs.

Does this increase or decrease performance of Unidata and will it help Linux
in general of reduce the performance.

Cheers.
