Default Trigger for MD - 01-17-2007 , 11:01 AM

Okay .. this will be the last q on triggers for a while. Got it all
working mostly but am learning to live with the limitations of D3 .. so

Is it possible to put a trigger on the MD of an account? If so where.
I have been trying to figure a way but have been unable to come up with
one.

thanks

DSig

Try putting your trigger in the MDS entry for the acccount.

Steve,

thanks for the lead on mds but, <8> contains SYS2. Is it as simple as
adding a ]CALLX triggername

if triggername is cataloged? <g> really don't want to stop work <G>

thanks

You put them on attr 8 of the attr defining item in the MDS file.

As mentioned the 'defining item' has SYS2 in it.

Mark would be better to respond but I don't believe the sysx in the MDS
is used anymore. All the system privileges are held in the user item
on D3.

Hopefully, the triggers in the MDS are working better that several
years ago. I tried to monitor the master dictionary but it caused too
much grief. Just be sure that the programs and the callx have full
path names the data files that are going to be accessed.

Good luck,

Dale

Dave, this is where I stopped my recent exploration of triggers.
See this RD forum posting for the last thing I tried before I gave up:
<http://forums.rainingdata.com/index.php?showtopic=1324&st=0&#entry4460>
I'm not interested enough to follow-up with RD Support on this. If
someone else is, have fun.
