the crystal excel (I think) system was heavy -- it was loaded with user
exits and terminal specific -- every day I was going to DEC near
basingstoke I think to convert the lot to Universe -- excellent place
excellent people knew everything could do anything with UNIX -- one time
I let something go wild and it et up all their disk space -- was funny
took me a matter of weeks to completely convert the royal insurance
property/rental management system across to universe

apart from that the guy had customers all over the place -- all
complaining big thing he had going was a fax interface went all over
the
place was interesting -- can't remember what car I had then ... vauxhall
astra I think yes it was -- my green little astra -- had given back the
brand new astra with petrol card from the EDI place ... damn that thing
had done some miles was all over the place all over the country --
installing EDI configuring training ... gr8 times --- guy (originally
from 'triffid' (remember them?) had leased a mcdonnel douglas M4000 it
was mine -- it was my baby I owned it lil register lights boot the damn
thing up with switches -- big IBM tape deck on rails -- roll it out tapes
all over the place interesting -- salford quays -- ships going past the
window
