Hi,

This entry in &DEVICE& looks fine, the error is more than likely caused
by another process having the tape attached. Things like Backup exec
often have a service running in the backgroup that still has the tape
drive attached. Try stopping the service that runs the backup software.

I just happened to come across this from the release notes of UniVerse
10.0.4 (while I was looking for something else), but it may apply to you -
I'm not sure:

Lowercase Device Names and Transaction Logging
______________________________________________

You cannot configure transaction logging to log to a tape
device whose name is in lowercase. This applies even if
the device name is in lowercase in the &DEVICE& file. The
device appears in the list of possible devices, but if you
select it and then redisplay the list of devices configured
for transaction logging, it is not present. To avoid this
problem, use uppercase device names.

Hope this helps.
