Default Serious B-tree problem in D3/NT 7.5 - 08-29-2006 , 05:49 AM

I am having a serious b-tree problem in v7.5 so please watch out before
you do the migration.

TESTING.FILE

ITEM ID : SIN:HKG:0001:00005

CREATE-INDEX TESTING.FILE A0(G0:3)

B4 version 7.5, index key "SIN:HKG:0001" will be created

BUT in V7.5, it only creates "SIN" and "HKG:0001" is missing

Hi
A couple of quick questions. What are you running Linux or Windows? If
windows are you using VME or FSI.
My guess is that it is the FSI as I have already reported a disastrous
muddle on Translates.
It seems to me that there are too many versions trying to interpret
correlatives as I have identified at least 3. Hasn't anyone at RD heard of
Object programming?

The 7.5 indicates D3/NT ... and if history is correct OF COURSE the
file is in the FSI .... the VME has (traditionally) worked just fine !

Hi Ross
I thought the VME expansion was for Linux as we dont need it in NT having
the FSI available :-)
Indices are looking dodgier by the minute, unfortunately in the summary of
known issues on RD site they do not mention them despite having action
items.

also, didn't i see a footnote on 7.5 that RD has now flipped the
default location for this release and that all files are now in FSI by
default?

Correct. It is going to make some interesting changeover issues.
I had hoped that by this stage all would be sorted out however they have
just got worse. Can you tell me why on earth they are each trying to
interpret Algebraic correlatives. I mean the things are clearly documented,
there is a working test system (VME), and even if they followed the standard
programmers riule of never document anything they can surely read the code
if they must have it separate. Better still why not just call the existing
code and accept the result?

Probably have no one able to read PVA. Don't you remember how obscure and
fragile it's supposed to be?

Too effing easy. Your problem, Peter, is that you don't think like a typical
systems programmer .
