It's been a while, so I had to check the documentation: * * * * SEL-RESTORE EDI.FILES,RAW item The prompts then relate to the location of the file you want to restore from on the tape (virtual or physical): * * * * Account: *SOMEACCOUNT * * * * Dict: * EDI.FILES.OLD * * * * File: * PROCESSED Or, if you are restoring from the same file as you want to load into: * * * * Account: *SOMEACCOUNT * * * * Dict: * * EDI.FILES * * * * File: * * RAW HTH, Brian On 19/11/2010 18:11, George Smith wrote: Does anyone happen to know the correct response to the mvBase SEL- RESTORE prompts Account Dict File when you want to sell restore from a specific data section? ie restore "item" from file EDI.FILES,RAW |

"George Smith" wrote Thanks for the response - and confirming what I thought was proper. This was a (very knowledgeable) remote customer doing this on a single user laptop I can't "see", so I suspect some miscommunication. |

This was a (very knowledgeable) remote customer doing this on a single user laptop I can't "see", so I suspect some miscommunication. That wouldn't impede them from offering you more concrete documentation of the problem; *one can do * * * * * copy to the windows text clipboard with most windows platform terminal emulator clients {and even the humble windows telnet client, but it is on the hidden menu "EDIT"}. Then they can open a new text document or email message and * *paste * * from the clipboard to get that screen dump to you. Failing that, they can do *control-printscreen * * and it quietly does a graphics snapshot of the whole windows desktop. *Then have them open a * * * * *new rich text document * *{or just open WordPad} and in it do * * *menu choice * "Special Paste" * * to put the snapshot *in the doc. * Have them then save and exit the document, and email it to you. *{I never tested this on windows 7, though...} And if you meant their laptop is running the database, and offers a telnet localhost user interface, then have them download putty to the laptop and then use it to ssh in to an ssh server on your campus, also adjusting putty to request port forwarding, and then you can telnet back along that pipeline to their laptop. *You'd be the 'single user' at that point. If you do not own such a server, perhaps one of the regular contributors here would offer that as a commercial service; *then you'd Both ssh in to that third-party server; *you would then telnet localhost *1234 {or whatever} *at the # or $ *prompt to get logged in to their laptopdatabase. |

"David" wrote Have you guys ever heard of Go-To-Assist... it's a great (indispensable) tool for support. You can SEE their PC/Laptop/etc. and see exactly what they see... and you have full mouse control... and keyboard control. David Went to their web site; tried to see a) just how much does it cost |
