Thanks Colin, for the plug.
Binary Star does have a robust and fully-operational conversion suite.
I won't say it's ideal for a 5 user installation, but if the seat count is a
hundred or more, the conversion does make economic sense.

Our licensee in South Africa has recently migrated a large SB site for one
of our clients, and they have become real experts in conversions.

We are able to convert SB as well as SB+ to Nucleus - preserving the
original "look and feel" and adding as a bonus, a nice GUI front-end that
does NOT impose any divergent coding, and Source Code Control. The new
applications only require copying two subroutines, not a raft of xxDEFNs,
..DICTS etc.

The finished product doesn't require an understanding of cryptic
SystemBuilder codes and controls.

Colin referenced some meaningful info on our website if anyone cares to take
a look.
We also have a couple of <groan> PowerPoint presentations that outline the
process:

http://www.binarystar.com/Distributi...onvert_ppt.pps

Mike, if you are reading this, we would consider cross-licensing the
technology.

Mike;

There are a number of other companies that do this:
www.u2logic.com
www.binarystar.com/sb_migration.html
http://www.mv4gl.com/Prod_mvSBC.shtml
http://www.sc-sys.com/sbconverter.html (may be the same as the previous
entry)
www.designbais.com

There may be more. You can try the SB Solutions list at u2ug.org - someone
there may have something.

Of course, all of them probably just convert the SB+ definition to their
own
format - not sure if you'll have any more luck there. I'm also not sure if
any of them convert the GUI screens or just the character screens (you
have
a character screen definition here).

Me, I've "hacked" them a little and most things aren't too hard to figure
out.

All-

We've a client who sent us some SB+ screens for cnversion to
OpenInsight. We're having trouble figuring out the layout- in the
dictionary of the file in question we have what we believe is a screen
definition- it looks like this:

SCREEN
A
1
N?Y?....
0
0,0,79,17

and so on. Having gone through tons of SB docs, we can't find the
format of this structure. Can someone provide any assistance? It is
greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mike
