Default Reynolds and Reynolds - 10-22-2003 , 03:49 PM

I work for a mailing house in central Florida. We do not actually use
Reynolds and Reynolds, we use ProComm to connect and capture reports
then use Content extractor to get the pertinent fields. I believe we
are connecting to the software called ERA. We then type in hel menu,
enter user id and pass, then we use a script to finish asking for the
report, and capturing it. I am currently looking for as much information
as possible on Reynolds and Reynolds and any and all utilities to make
capturing the client’s data easier. I have been searching for online
documentation, software, or anything that may help me but it has been a
fruitless search.

We also download from ADP systems and I found a utility perfect for what
we are doing. It is call Data Miner 4 but it only works for ADP. I am
currently looking for pricing on the software. If anyone is familiar
with any software like this for Reynolds and Reynolds it would be
greatly appreciated.

Hello Foo,

Not sure about "the great".

Anyway, you should download a trial version of AccuTerm at www.asent.com
and try it against your online software. It functions similar to ProComm,
but in
my opinion is much better. It has macro capability in which I have written
scripts to automatically dial up a remote location and download files.

I do a lot of work for both Reynolds and ADP dealers. With Reynolds,
the dealership uses a software called ERALink which was born from
wIntegrate. You can get wIntegrate from IBM. You can even download a
demo version to try. As long as you are not creating scripts for the
actual dealer to use in-house, you are ok. Simply because the version
of Reynolds' wIntegrate or ERALink was customized specifically for them.
Just as Reflections was for ADP.

What you actually create are queries that can be automated. The
dealership will need to give you access to 7601 aside from 6910. It's
always good to have access to the 6910 screen.

If you ever wish to automate the ADP downloads completely, as in FTP,
let me know. I do custom work as well as consulting for the dealerships
and I am located in Florida. I worked for ADP for a number of years
and know the system inside and out. I know Reynolds as well.

Whatever you decide to do, good Luck!
