Hi
Take a look at
http://www.intersystems.com/cache/do...che52/TOC.html
for the Table of contents for the .pdf doc set.

http://www.intersystems.com/cache/do.../PDFS/GBMP.pdf
has the .NET info.

As noted this is the documentation set for Cache' 5.2 and the MV
related docs are not included in Cache' 5.2.

Tony, in your blog article, you show one way to get e-acute from the
Windows keyboard. IF you have the langauge stuff installed correctly
on your system you can get any accented character by typing CTRL-
accentchar followed by the letter to accent. As in: CTRL+'e. CTRL+SHIFT
+^e and so on. Comes in handy if you type Cache' 200 times a day ;-)

On Mac OS X, use alt-e, e to get the é.

Take a look at:
http://www.intersystems.com/press/presskit/accent.html
for how to write with an accent

I downloaded the full .pdf documentation. It created something like 75
different .pdf files, with names like "ABAS_FAQ", "ACHUI_Mgnt"
(gezuntheit), "ACOP", "ACSP", etc. Do they really expect me to open 75
files to see which one is the Introduction .pdf? And I'm especially

I must admit that I have never quite understood why anyone would
actually LIKE pdf, even with something other than the horrendous Adobe

I must admit that I have never quite understood why anyone would
actually **NOT** like pdf, even with something other than the horrendous
Adobe reader. It sure beats reading documentation on-line.

Well, in support of my statement, I would quote:

;-)

Such things are caused by the fact that organizing PDF documents is a
nightmare. However, I agree that the names are not exactly helpful.
However however, I thought that the PDF readers would allow you to
"Search all PDF documents in the folder"?

But if you are just reading the PDFs locally on your computer (as
opposed to downloading them to print them) then why not just install
the product, which will install ALL the documentation (including the
MV specific set) locally. Then you can browse locally and not online?
If you print the PDF files then you won't have the issue of trying to
navigate PDF files (which are not very good for naviagation).

I am presuming here that your objection is to having to go to the web
site to read the documentation and not that it is in electronic form?
If this is the case then I strongly recommend that you use the HTML
form provided locally by the installer. After install, just let it
start the introduction page and you should find everything you need.
If your objection is that it is in electronic form then you should
print 'em ;-). I am not 100% sure but I think that customers can order
printed forms (but you ought to check that statement as I don't have
anything to do with how such things are distributed ;-).

OK, you got me there. But I'm still not giving in. See below.

If any product intrigues me, my method of evaluation has been to first
download any available documentation and spend time scanning/reading it.
I have found this to be an excellent method for getting a feel for the
product. 80% of the time it's not what I'm looking for, or I don't feel
comfortable with something. Then I don't have to bother the vendor with
downloading anything, and I don't have to guck up my computer with
(eventually) unwanted software.

So I always download documentation before downloading software.

You are right - I am not against having the documentation in electronic
form. .pdf's are electronic. And I don't print out the .pdf either.
However, I will print out a chapter or two if it gets to the "meat" of
what I am looking for.

However, I still find reading on-line help very (physically)
uncomfortable. It just feels very unnatural. I get a pain in my neck
which I don't get from .pdf's. Also, with .pdf's I can make the page
image bigger or smaller, as I see fit. And the fact that the page looks
like a book page aids in the reading.

It's OK to allow other people to like things that you don't like. It
doesn't hurt. Give it a try. ;-)

Default Updated: MultiValue and Cache' docs(.pdf) - 02-26-2007 , 04:27 PM

With the release of Cache' 5.2.3MV, the field test kit has been
removed along with the field test MV specific docs, so the information
about the location of the Cache' MV related docs mentioned in the old
post(quoted below) no longer applies.

Complete documentation is available in the free Cache' 5.2.3MV
download(http://download.intersystems.com/download). The download has
no expiration date and is a fully functional single user product.

If you just want to review the doc MV specific docs, they are also
available in the MV section of our website in .pdf format
http://www.intersystems.com/mv/docs/
