Hi Simon,

Quote:
So.... the question is, how to make an account-save in jBASE that OPENQM
can read.
OK, I should have done this before my first reply but I went and RTFM'd
@ jBASE.

I think that if you simply supply the SIZE parameter at something other
than 500 you should be in good shape. Again, this is due to the fact
that the PICK 500 byte block size has its quirks.

The openQM tape utils expect an 80 byte label - but expect it to be
embedded within a {BLOCKSIZE} block. If specifying an 80 byte label
causes jBASE to write the first block as 80 bytes instead of as
{BLOCKSIZE} there might be difficulties.

Again if it doesn't sort itself out, please let me know and I will
attempt to make things fit for you.
-Tom

This thread has moved from a simple enquiry about OpenQM to a detailed
technical discussion of a problem with ACCOUNT-SAVE tapes. Can we
please move this thread to the OpenQM Google Group as that is the more
appropriate place. We (Ladybridge Systems) do not monitor the CDP group
as closely as our own and hence cannot provide the same level of
service to our users.

Alternatively, send details of the problem to support (AT) openqm (DOT) com.

OTOH I am keen to know if Simon was able to create a restorable tape
and if so what he had to do to make this happen.

So either here or tomd at blackflute dot com Simon, I would appreciate
knowing what you found.

Tks,
-Tom

Been away for the weekend but I will give it a go.

I deliberately published here as it here as the results may be useful - plus
jBasers may know something about creating more "compatible" backups.

Regards and thanks
Simon

Tom deLombarde has now supplied a version of ACCOUNT.RESTORE that has
support for many more tape formats. This wil lbe in release 2.4-0
(today, hopefully). As always, if you have an ACCOUNT.SAVE format that
it doesn't handle, we would like to know.

Isn't it obvious by now that Open QM is definitely not a low-end
product and that it is time to bury that particular subject line?
