Tough luck the unix: prefix isn't working.
Guess for now you'll just have to IMPORT it.

IMPORT BIGFILE TOM
from: /mnt/cdrom/stuff.txt

now LIST BIGFILE "TOM" SIZE
should be on the close order of the
!/bin/ls -l /mnt/cdrom/stuff.txt
filesize.

Maybe see if DOS: and/or BIN: drivers work?

Look in DM,Hosts, and make sure UNIX looks like this:

001 01
002
003 r
004
005
006 For referencing UNIX text data

The first 3 attrs are the only important ones.

Also, remember that the directory is the file, and the files in it are the
items in the file, so make sure your qpointer is point at the directory and
not the file in question.

We are having trouble accessing data on a cd-rom on a proplus 7.2.1
installation using proplus.
We can access the cd-rom data directly through the linux shell, so i am
assuming the hardware
is all ok and there is a D3 proplus glitch.
Our intention was to use the OSFI to import a large data file instead
of trickling it in on accuterm.
It would appear the MOUNT-CD command is performing as designed: it
locates the correct cd-rom device (cd-rom = /dev/hdc) and it creates a
q-pointer as follows:

CDROM
001 q
002
003 unix:/mnt/cdrom

LIST DM,CDROM, returns the error message [201]
'unix:/mnt/cdrom' is not a file name

the sparse proplus documentation on the subject indicates this will
work. I can't find any documentation on OSFI itself, only some fleeting
mentions of the hosts file.

Has anybody successfully set up the cdrom in proplus for OSFI access?
If so, would you be willing to supply the missing pieces?

Drop the unix: and try again.
Based on other posts in this thread, (and the failure of
"list /tmp", I'm guessing there is a permissions issue. I can't offer
a solution except that ProPlus was never intended to be a Unix
platform, it's a native environment built over a stripped-down Linux
distro. People have D3Linux to do exactly what you're trying to do
with D3ProPlus. Now, the last version of ProPlus was v7.3.something.
I believe there were some extensions to help do stuff like what you're
talking about, but I'm not sure. You may want to read the v7.3
Release Notes (Enhancements and Resolutions).

And when it's all working, contemplate dropping ProPlus. It has
achieved 'End-of-Life' status and is no longer being fixed or
enhanced. D3Linux is a suitable upgrade.
