Default Is it possible to invoke UniVerse Subroutines through ODBC? - 10-22-2005 , 01:01 AM

Hello,

I'd like to invoke a UniVerse subroutine through ODBC. I've been able
to do this through UO.NET however, when I add the UniVerse ODBC
datasource to my Server Explorer in VS.NET, I can see all the UniVerse
files but I don't see any of the subroutines. Again, I know they're
there because I can invoke them through UO.NET.

I assumed that they would show up under "Stored Procedures" in the
Server Explorer however, it appears that this is an incorrect
assumption. Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Could is be a
permission issue on UniVerse that's preventing me from see the
subroutines through OBDC?

I'm extremely new to UniVerse (a few days) so please excuse me if this
is a silly question. Thanks so much for the help. BTW the version of
UniVerse is 10.0.8.

Jay

Jay, you just published your IBM user ID, I'm glad the password wasn't
in there too. The page is not viewable to anyone unless they're
logged-in. No loss, only U2 users who have their own login should be
interested anyway.

I don't want to discourage U2 questions here, but you will find a more
focused audience in the U2 e-mail forum:
http://www.u2ug.org/
Click the "email-lists" link and subscribe to u2-users.

FWIW, we have a client who had a lot of issues with the Universe OLEDB
server and we solved the problem with a painless migration to mv.NET.
I know you tried UO.NET, but that's a free and feature-deficient
answer to UO users who want to write .NET code. mv.NET is managed
code with a lot of great features that you may appreciate after having
used ODBC and UO.NET - including running BASIC programs or any
command-line statement from your .NET code. Feel free to contact me
with questions. A free 30 day evaluation is available, just e-mail
for info.

Good luck,
Tony
