Has anyone interfaced UniVerse with a java applet or other app so that the user can issue a command in the comment field, and a whiz-bang editor opens on their desktop? It doesn't have to be Word, or Wordpad. They just want basic/faster editing with more nimble movement. So, an event driven editor, called by a UniBasic program, and the ability to tie the saved .doc to the UV record. |

We have numerous comment fields in our distribution system and users are still hamstrung in these fields by an antiquated text editor. You know the kind where you have to finish your entry, go to a bottom cmnd line, then enter the line you want to edit/delete. Tony is right (as always) -- AccuTerm SUI (Smart User Interface) is really neat! AccuTerm can also drive Windows Notepad (or any other Windows program) directly from Pick/Basic. If you object to Terminal Emulation programs (AccuTerm, wIntegrate, ViaDuct, etc.) we offer a Pick/Basic routine that will run on any workstation or dumb terminal: UTIL-201: PANEL.SUB (Box/word-wrap routine). $125.00 (one time charge per system) This utility defines a "panel" (er..."window" or "box") on-screen of any size, allows freeform text entry with automatic wordwrap, text correction, scroll up and down in the "panel", and many other features. This is the same utility as used in our own EMAIL product! Features include a nifty "get one key" routine with a test program, ability to store the contents of the "panel" in either attribute-delimited or value-mark delimited form, a front-end test program, and more! This utility will run on any MultiValue platform! Call us for a spec sheet! 530-676-6052, or see: http://www.weaver-consutling.com for our utiltities catalog. Dave Weaver, Weaver Consulting |
