Nah,

They all ship off to Wellington because they have heard the weather is
so good :-)

And in comparison, what does Newcastle have to offer?

OK, it IS at the mouth of the Hunter River, and the fact that the
Hunter Valley is one of the great wine producing regions of The World
will be attractive to some.

Sure, some people may will like the fact that Lake Macquarie is the
largest salt water lake in Australia, and be attracted by water sports
like sailing, windsurfing and skiing are a your front door.

Other people might be prefer their water with bumps, so the fact that
Newcastle has some of the best surfing beaches in the country might be
appealing, and others may be drawn to Port Stephens, the Blue Water
Wonderland of NSW.

Then there are the rivers, the mountains, the .... (note to self:
SHUTUP and don't let the cat out of the bag !!! or the place will be
crawling with Yanks, Poms & Canadians who can swap their uncomfortable
studio apartments for mansions and STILL have money in the bank)

However, the person we seek will be proud of their neon tan, their
ability to work long hours with a low coffee ratio, and spurn the
bountiful attractions of the outside world.

They will take pride in producing world class software that we can
export (to keep outsiders away), and being an integral part of a team
with a can-do mantra!

Please send bribes (oops, I mean "applications") if this sounds
like the lifestyle you yearn for

- 2 years Universe exp
- 4 years Revelation exp

With the way the Cricket is going for us at the moment, we HAVE to have
a sense of humour !

haven't received your email ...

rossf (or just ross) @ stamina.com.au

Hmmm, the ship building sounds interesting as we have people in this
space, and whilst not actively involved in "dairy" we don have a
bloodline management system that may overlap. Please feel free to email
directly to quantify "attractive", but I undersatnd that moving a young
family is NOT something to be done lightly

Hi Ross
Just a small correction/amendment. THE BEST SURFING in Australia nay THE
WORLD is in TASMANIA.
Yes the breaks on the South West are bigger than Hawaii, genuinely serious
tow-ins. Some of the smaller tubes ranked expert are a few minutes out of
Hobart in the calmer South East.
Good Luck

Bloody Tasmania again! Don't I get enough about Tasmania from my
two-headed wife and every bloody time a lifestyles program comes on TV? ;^)

The only problem with surfing in Tasmania is that you freeze solid if
you stay out for more than about, oh, thirty seconds. <g>

I notice that Tassie doesn't reate a mention here...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surfing

....though Newcastle and Victoria's Bells Beach and nearby Jan Juc all rate.

Luke

hmmmm,

Another intesting foot note to this "discussion" (hey Luke, wanna move
north ? or come across the ditch Peter ?).

Around 30 years ago Hawaii was hit with some big hurricane/cyclone seas
that denuded all of the beaches of their famous "golden sands" -
they searched the world for the "right" golden sand to re-furb
Waikiki - right colour, not too coarse.

To cut a long story short, around 30 iron ore carrier loads were taken
from Stockton Beach to help the poor tourist industry. We still have a
LOT of the stuff left - IIRC Stockton Beach is the longest stretch of
coastal dunes in Australia, if not the World.

And picking up on Luke's point, the water temp & general climate is a
bit warmer in Newcastle than Tassie - though I confess your Antarctic
gusts are cleaner ! (I think todays [winter] temp was around 17C -
clear winter blue skies, and water supplies at 91% [for non-Aussies -
nationally Australia is in the grip of a draught, with >90% of NSW
declared as drought zone])

Yes, it is a hard life - and we are looking to share this burden !

Hi all
Glad to see you are all awake. For the easier surf in Tas try
http://www.tassiesurf.com/ Shipstern is a few minutes from Hobart. The
site exagerrates it is not the biggest break just the easiest to get to.
Oh I forgot to mention last time Boags Premium is voted the best beer in the
world.
Yep we need two heads to hold all the extra brainpower Luke.
See you all soon

Interesting? How strong is the sailing community there? Is it just
cruising or is there an active racing scene? If racing, would you
happen to know which classes?
