Default OT: Spectrum LB - Diving? - 02-21-2006 , 10:28 AM

Anyone thinking of heading over to Catalina on the Monday for a dive or two
before the show?

Water any cooler than a hot tub is too cold for me.

I'm just curious what kind of turnout there is going to be for Spectrum.

I will be there (Spectrum, that is, not the dive!).

No diving for me but I'll certainly be at the show all week. Anyone
want to round-table some topic? A couple years ago a number of us
were discussing open source MV apps.

I'll be a judge for the Monday challenge. Get yer sleep and bring all
of your development tools!

....and after the discussion, we all went our separate ways. I was between
gigs at that conference (Las Vegas) and could have gotten started on
something, but a major gig came along shortly thereafter and the need to
keep bread on the table took precedence! Seems like that need for bread
kills a lot of good ideas!

Anyway, I'm game for a casual round-table discussion. I have no topics in
mind (and some may question why, since there is plenty of unused space
available!) but I'd be happy to participate. Maybe we could rekindle the MV
Open Source topic...

Tony,

I'm up for it, especially since the MV Challenge was just cancelled
because of lack of interest. I told Gus that David and I must have won
by default.

So, as it stands you have some free time also.

See ya in a couple of weeks,

I can't be there. I always miss the fun stuff and get stuck with the bad
stuff. Maybe the round table this year will be fruitful.

As I recall, when we had that session I had been going for about two
days with no sleep so I don't remember much of the discussion anyway.
But there were some good ideas on the table from Glen, Bob Marik,
Bruce, Eugene Perry, and ... ? Without an open source DBMS on which
to base an open source application project, maybe that discussion was
just premature?

Sorry the challenge was cancelled. I guess that means we will be
seeing you next year Ross! (RD&C)

See the rest of you there!
