Default OT: put this on your hear ASAP list - 01-31-2011 , 01:02 PM

This is an unexpected pairing, and will be an auto-buy for me on CD
to put alongside his classic 60s OTT LP "The Transformed Man".
=====
Last week veteran actor William Shatner teamed up with guitar legend
Zakk Wylde at Wylde's studio, The Black Label Bunker, to lay down
tracks for a cover of BLACK SABBATH's classic "Iron Man". The song
will appear on Shatner's upcoming album, "Seeking Major Tom", which
features a collection of sci-fi, space-themed songs. The album is due
out on Cleopatra Records later this year.

Of Wylde, Shatner commented, "He's fantastic! I'm energized." Wylde
was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Shatner and added,
"He's super cool, we had an awesome time working together."
=====
Rock on Captain Kirk! There's nobody with the staying power and the
willingness to make a fool of himself artistically in public like old
Bill Shatner. Gotta love him. Don't beam him up yet, Scotty!

The guy is just amazing. I look forward to the new work. Mr Shatner
has an incredible way of doing art awkwardly, but in a familiar way
that's in itself alluring. He's entirely unique and successful in
this regard. It's almost the same allure of tormented Picasso
paintings, or of the modern "reality show" where people want to see
things go terribly wrong, but for Shatner it's not wrong, it curiously
works.

As a fluent speaker of Esperanto I'll also note that for years he
denied his effort in the movie Incubus where he spoke awful Esperanto
through the whole movie and acted as poorly. But man, it's a classic.
If you enjoy subtitled foreign language classics, find Incubus.

Thanks, Tony. I'll see if I can find it on netflix. If not I'm sure I
can find it if I trawl on the usenet binary movie groups.
