Default Northgate & Hemel (We're still here...) - 12-13-2005 , 11:10 AM

Just a quick update on the UK Hemel Hempstead Oil Depot Explosion on Sunday
and how it affected Northgate...

Our Headquarters Office, being adjacent to the depot and receiving a direct
blast, have been significantly damaged. However, the Northgate Business
Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans were initiated and remote locations
are being used to bring affected internal and external services back
on-line. Being 06:00 on a Sunday morning only four staff were caught up in
the blast. Thankfully, they received minor injuries and are now out of
hospital.

Please use your normal Account & Support methods to contact Northgate,
including phone lines - US & UK. Our normal email addresses should be
on-line within a day or so. For now, if anyone "needs" to pass information
on within Northgate, please use the email from this posting.

For the latest information please refer to our Web Site that will keep you
posted. When this is fully operational you can also access Reality specific
data using www.northgate-is.com/reality

Regards,

Alan

Hi Alan
I specialise in the Oil Distribution industry and sympathise with the ones
that got hurt, scared witless as well I should imagine.

However it is an ill wind that blows no good. The instant recovery with a
well planned procedure that actually worked reflects extremely well on your
company. Who else remembers the Brisbane floods were the computers were in
the basement!

Ah! 1974, Cyclone Althea.... computers didn't need to be in the
basement... we lost one from the ground floor - office was 8ft
under..... But we rescued the bottled beer from the Port Office Hotel
just down the street... First things first.... Priorities....

Bruce,

With stories like that, it is no wonder you are an Aussie Legend :-)

Should I change my name to "Foot"?

And on reflection, I owe an apology.... Cyclone Wanda in '74 for the
Brisbane floods, Cyclone Althea, '71....

Sorry. Old Timers disease.....

Ah Bruce I remember The Royal Beach Hotel of '68 so well. After the rains
came straight through the side of my tent I moved into the ladies rest room
at work it seemed such a pity to waste a bed, unused outside of working
hours.

Geez Bruce, that's bloody obscure! I only got it because I used to do
cryptic crosswords.

a Legend... leg end .. what's at the end of a leg? A foot....
Of course. Ross could've meant the OTHER end..... In which case I'd
have ot change my name to ..... Nah! No need. Everybody calls me
that, now...
