Default mvBase VMS Question - 04-20-2007 , 01:19 PM

The docs say I can allow as many as 50 VMS files for allocating space for
the DBMS. Is there an implication for many as opposed to few? My client now
has two files at 2GB each for a total of 4GB. I would like to double the
space to a total of 8GB. Does it matter if I go eight 1GB files, or two 4GB
ones?

Thanks!

Ed

I truly don't know the answer for you... but in a lot of different
systems there is a 2GB limit on the file size that the system can
use. This may or may not be a limiting factor.

Hopefully someone else with the actual expert knowledge will put forth
their 2 cents worth.
