Default MV Webring - 06-27-2006 , 03:28 AM

I see this is up for adoption - does anyone actively use this anymore?
Is it still of benefit to the community ?

I believe it is a community resource but certainly not a part of the
community consciousness like CDP.

IIRC, according to Herb Rubin who runs the MV forum, there is a
problem when people are registered for the ring and don't put the ring
links on their home page. When the ring breaks the webring folks
blame the ringmaster and put the site up for adoption if the issues
aren't resolved.

I'd gladly take on the webring if indeed it requires adoption. My
approach would be to let MV sites know they're going to be removed
from the ring and then do it if there's no compliance - tahellwitum.
can't have people spoiling it for the rest of the community.

I'd vote against keeping the ring (as if this were a voting item). I
used it for a while, but then discontinued it for a variety of reasons.
A site somewhere with a list of parties who would like to be listed
would be preferable. Given the time, I could come up with the reasons
behind this opinion, but they aren't formed in words yet so I'll just
send my raw opinion for what it's worth.

Cheers! --dawn

Perhaps it is as Tony says and it is just broken, but it has been up
for grabs for a couple of months atleast, so either Herb as dropped it,
or does not know it is broken.
