I want to put my 2 cents here. It has not been easy for me to
understand well the posts, my english is not as good as i thought. But
i want to say a some things:

I have never read something from Tony against ANY product. He always
invite us to test products, mix products, work with any kind of product
that may be useful. He has his preferences, as all of us, and expose
his point of view.

Some days ago, when somebody, i do not remember who, began to write
about OpenQM here, in my poor english i read something like, came here
because it is much more better than D3 and RD is very very bad. The
kind of thing that Tony never says.

About GPL, GNU etc. It can be as good or as bad than propietary. One of
the things that make me laugh a lot is when i go to some conference i
see people saying, GNU is fantastic, GPL is fantastic, OpenSource is
fantastic. Microsoft is "bad". I agree with some of that. But when i
ask them, what is your company? and they answer, Novell, it make me
think. It is the same with IBM, f.i., they are the biggest company
writing open source for Linux. They are the company that register more
software patents on a year also. Something is wrong.

And i see many many old Open Source people going out of the projects
saying, "this is not what we wanted when we began to run on this", we
have been used.

IMHO GPL is one kind of licence, and i do not like licences at all.

And for many people talking about GPL and Open Source i will like to
ask only an stupid question, the software you are going to develop with
f.i. Open QM is going to be GPL also, is it going to be Open Source, is
it going to be GNU?

And i remember the "old days" no so far away. GNU (Get NOT UNIX), it is
not Get Not Microsoft. And all of them, SCO, HP/UX, IBM/AIX,
Sun/Solaris, even Novell and Mac, now says, GPL, GNU, Open Source, of
course when they have gone out of the market. Now, Microsoft is the
devil, but they are the teachers of the devil. I do no forget that. And
i do not forget how much a visual interface costed, until Microsoft
appears, i do not forget how much TCP/IP for SCO costed, i do not
forget how much NFS costed. And i do not forgot who sell all of them.

Sorry for my English, and Tony, as the songs says, "you've got a
friend" and of course you are not alone.

Hi Mike,

It always amuses me to see the way folks act when it is pointed out
how untentable their positions can be.

Except that people following the thread are more than likely more
interested in the *Subject* and less interested in whatever Tom and
Tony (and you?) are going on about. Me - I couldn't care less.

Thanks for playing. No reply necessary.

I'm not playing. It's a silly game. I'm replying to tell you to take it
elsewhere because it's well OT.
So your memory has become a bit weak. The words that prompted this
part of the thread were:

I know for a fact that some VARs are actively promoting migration
away from Pick into things that will generate more income - now
and into the future. They are not likely to keep the Pick/MV vendors
in the loop now are they? Then again - some of them are regulars
here and have been up front about it - but that's an iceberg tip I'm
afraid. Upset at the hopelessness? You aren't alone bud.

Mike.
This relates to 'MultiValue Visual Basic' (I hate having to overstate
the obvious but that was 'The Subject') in what way? Maybe 'OT'
means 'On Topic' in the new language? Would on topic also be wrong
if it agreed with your agenda?

Thanks for your input,
-Tom
