Default LISTU truncation - 08-09-2006 , 11:40 AM

Hello,
Is there a way to extend the User Name in the the LISTU command
results? See below for a sample.
These are the UniVerse users presently sharing the system.
uid User No User Name Terminal No Login Time
* 0 1484 MAINPICK2003\pgonzal telnet:1484 Aug 9
12:14
* 0 1463 MAINPICK2003\pgonzal telnet:1474 Aug 9
11:32

The user name should be pgonzalez not pgonzal. It is messing up a
utility program to prevent users from loging on X amount of times. The
system is Universe NT, ver 10.

Thanks

I found the solution in the U2 archives. I'm posting the answer here
for others.

Unfortunately, There are too many programs to modify that use the LISTU
and @LOGNAME. So the administrator is going to change MAINPICK2003 to
L_2003. This will give us 14 characters for the user login.

Rudy,

If you want the user names reported consistently, there is a registry
setting to ignore the domain prefix (particularly useful for
migrating sites from UNIX).

Start Regedt32, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\UniVerse\CurrentVe rsion and
add a new DWORD
key:

UseShortUserNames 0x00000001

From the release notes on 10.1 :

Changed User Names Default
__________________________

Before Version 9.3.1, UniVerse on Windows NT used short user
names that did not include the domain name. At this version,
fully-qualified user names are used in the format:

<DOMAIN.NAME>\<username>

If you want to use short user names, use the Windows NT
Registry Editor to add an entry to the registry as follows:

1. Choose
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Informix > UniVerse >
CurrentVersion

On Windows NT 4.0, choose Edit > New > DWORD Value.
Enter the value name UseShortUserNames. Double click
the value name and you are prompted to enter a value.
Enter 0 for long user names or any nonzero number
for short user names, then choose OK.

Short User Names and MESSAGE
____________________________

If you configure UniVerse to use short user names as
described in the previous section, you cannot use the MESSAGE
command to send messages to all users on the local domain, as
the domain name is not present in the user name.

Hope this helps
