Default Linux NFS server & AIX/D3 psuedo tape - 06-17-2005 , 11:16 AM

I have a linux system (Mandriva 10.2 ) set up as an NFS server, with a
directory exported. Other linux PCs have no problem mounting and using
the exported directory. I'm trying to do the same with an aix box,
release 4.3, to make a pseudo tape under D3. So far, I have not been
able to get aix to mount the linux nfs directory. It keeps returning the
error "access denied for" the linux server, and then "The file access
permissions do not allow the specified action."

Researching google, I tried "nfso -o nfs_use_reserved_ports=1", both as
a command at the #, and as the last line in /etc/rc.tcpip, but it didn't
seem to help any. Has anybody make anything this work?

I'm not sure, but I dont think you can get a file lock across an NFS
mount. Maybe that is buggering you up?

Maybe. I've tried the mount command both thru smit and from the #
prompt. I'll go back and look at the smit fields for anything relating
to file locks. Thanks.

Aything wrong with turning the tables, and exporting an NFS mount off
the AIX box that is mounted on the Linux side - may end up with same
problem of course, but MAY also provide a workable solution
