Default Latest Version of D3/linux 7.4.2 (was Disk Failure!) - 05-11-2005 , 11:38 PM

Hmmm,

Just prompted me to tell people that, IMHO, they should NOT install
latest (27th April) patches from RD site - problems with phantoms
(which impacts scheduler & spooler) which RD have acknowledged & are
working on --> we went back to the A160 "vintage"

(Also had a problem with flash with an item that crossed a frame
boundary - didn't have time to fully document, so I don't think they
are working on this one .... be warned, test ANY new release thoroughly
before deployment, and work it out HARD!!)

In terms of the question posed by David (Disk Failure! thread), AFAIK
7.4.2 ONLY works on RHE - you need 7.4.0 for RH9 or Fedora.

For my money (well, my clients actually) I'd use RHE/7.4.2 - a lot to
be said for having gear that is certfied for the OS, and the OS being
supported (RH9 'died' 12 months ago, and I don't like the idea of
'experimenting' with Fedora at a commercial customer - plus I don't
believe that RD 'sanction' this) - am also please to see that RD
support RHE4 --> I'm not sure if any of the 'other offerings'
officially support RHE4 yet

OK,

There is an A181 patch that says it fixes my scheduler problem ... not
linked to the "patches" web page, but you can find it going via the FTP
site.

So "well done RD tech support !!"
