Default JET-EDIT - 07-11-2011 , 05:01 PM

I really miss the JET-EDIT editor. I seem to recall last using it on
an MvBASE system, perhaps about seven years ago. Any chance there is
a pure BASIC source code version floating around that can be
implemented in any Pick environment ?

Dave Weaver (RIP 2006?) had such a product, called, I think, PSE
(Pick Screen Editor). I actually have a copy (on t-dump floppy?)
somewhere...
I googled for weaver consulting but didn't find anything.
Anyone know the actual url? It might still be active.

Jet was sold to Vmark. It was eventually sold to IBM. I know that
there was a basic version of jet created. However, I do not know if
they released it anywhere.

At some point, IBM made the decision to sell jet only on U2 systems.

Buy Accuterm

use WED

Note "pure basic", but will work on all MV platforms

Problem solved :-)

(FWIW, liked it so much we use the same component as the code editor
within Visage :-)

I have Accuterm, and have used WED.
The reason I wanted the Pick BASIC pure code is to tweak it since it
*could* be so much more than a simple editor.
That is, it could be more intelligent about what it's editing.
At any rate, I wonder if Dave Weaver's company is defunct

http://www.rhinocerus.net/forum/data...yg-editor.html
This above message mentions his full-screen editor, but the link to
which it points fails.

One might assume that he sold off his utilities and customer-base to
somebody, but to whom?
I guess I will need to add him to my article "Companies That Used
Pick"

http://knol.google.com/k/fft2001/com...basj7lzroyk/25

My college English teacher would probably fail me, I think it should
be
Companies WHICH Used Pick

but who's grading.

Dave Weaver passed away a few years ago. I am not sure what happened
to his company after that.

The late Richard A. Pick thought the same thing;
JET-EDIT was the basis for the first "Update
Processor" code. Of course, that was written
in assembly code, not BASIC.

I believe Dan Molochko from Synapse took over alot of his business. I
put a call in to him to ask about it.

Agreed. We have added stuff like code completion, so if you enter
something like

CALL MYROUTINE

after narrowing in on the name of the subroutine, can fill in
variables/types etc for you

OK, so "adding the smarts" takes a new skill set beyond pick basic,
but I like being able to do things like highlighting a block of code &
then (un)commenting etc etc etc

ACTUALLY, if you didn't want to add your own "smarts", I think Bro
Cope had/has a product called MV Toolchest (?) that I looked at one
Spectrum, and it had enough features to keep ANYONE happy --> except
maybe you, as you would need to get a licence for each site

mvToolox works very well and is written in basic and can be enhanced.
We have a team of 6 programmers here in Ohio and we work with it every
day.
